Breed a group of horses having common origin and possessing certain distinguishable characteristics that are transmittable to their offspring” – Illustrated Dictionary of Equine Terms

Through studying breeds members can learn different historical events that were happening that caused the breed to be created. One really good example of this is the American Saddlebred horse.

There are many breeds of horses (over 200) that can all be discussed, but most won’t be mentioned often if at all. The many that are mentioned can have questions about anything from the foundation sire (the first recognized horse of the breed) to the different disciplines they are commonly used for.
